The problem
Exploring anatomy needs both spatial context and relationships between structures. The challenge is to connect interactive 3D models to a queryable knowledge graph while keeping model assets and anatomical data aligned.
The approach
- Built a React Three Fiber viewer with structure selection, layer controls, and camera navigation.
- Connected anatomical relationships in Neo4j to GraphQL queries, with ontology validation and foundations for GraphRAG retrieval.
- Built a BodyParts3D asset pipeline for OBJ-to-GLB conversion, model optimization, and asset-to-graph synchronization.
The outcome
A working hand anatomy MVP brings 3D exploration, a knowledge graph, and a GraphQL API together. Full-body coverage, advanced retrieval, and an AI tutor remain planned.
